SBS Philippines Corporation goes green

SBS Philippines Corporation (SBS), one of the leading chemical distribution companies in the Philippines, shifts to renewable energy technology as part of its warehousing expansion in its current complex located in Quezon City.

On December 10, 2021, SBS held its formal acceptance of the first phase of solar panel installation totaling 120.96kWp system using 288 Sunpower SPR-P3-420-COM Panels with Solar Edge Optimizers, and 2 Solar Edge 82.8K Three Phase Inverters. The installation is projected to decrease SBS’s electricity consumption source from the grid by up to 121,000 kwh annually, which is equivalent to 47.2 mt reduction of CO2 emission per year or equivalent to planting 1,400 trees annually.

The project is aligned with SBS’ commitment to a 75% reduction of greenhouse gas emission from its direct distribution operation by 2030 in line with its sustainability program. This will entail a series of investments by the Company in the coming years as part of its business growth strategy.

According to Mr. Necisto Sytengco II, SVP for Sales and Marketing, “Moving to renewable energy technology is not only be good for the environment but will definitely provide a cost efficient operation for the company in the long term that will benefit all of our stakeholders. Our customers are confident to work with us with the same shared value on the importance of sustainability.”
